2020 Style Tips by Grace Parsons
2020! New year, new resolutions and potentially a new wardrobe. However, 2020 is going to be all about recycling what you already have and shopping wisely. Make investments in your clothes and buy select few pieces that will stay with you forever.
Staples and Investments
A faux leather jacket is a vital part of your wardrobe, keep it simple and sleek, black being the ideal colour, so that it can be paired with endless colour palettes. They are an interchangeable piece, can be worn year-round and layered with such ease. Leather jackets are the perfect investment piece and can last a lifetime if made well, so don’t be deterred from splurging on a sturdy, quality jacket. Another staple and investment piece, which are a must-have in any wardrobe, are the perfect pair of jeans. The amount of different styles of jeans can be overwhelming, from boyfriend fit, skinny, mom jeans to flared jeans – it’s important to try them all to see what is best for you. Jeans are so versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down. They can be worn with heels and a blouse or blazer for a more formal look or a simple white t-shirt and trainers for more relaxed vibes.
Day to Evening Dresses
For those who want to avoid the stress of the switch from day wear to evening wear, a simple dress is your new best friend. The beauty of a dress is that you don’t have to think about putting numerous items of clothing together, you can just accessorize the dress. You can layer it with an oversized jumper over the top, making it ideal for a casual day wear outfit and pair it with trainers or Converse. You don’t have to worry about outfit repetition because you can completely reinvent an item of clothing. Dresses are the ideal apparel for the shift from day to evening, you can change your trainers to heels or boots and layer with a blazer or leather jacket and you’ll have cleverly recycled your outfit.
Trends Straight from London Catwalk
Fashion trends consistently come and go, and it can be hard to keep up with what’s new so I’m going to share with you a few styles that are new for 2020. Knitted dresses are cropping up regularly and are a classic piece for this time of year. They can be worn with or without tights, which makes them the ideal transition clothing. Neutral colours make for a very warm, simple look and can be paired with colourful accessories to brighten up the outfit, or for a bolder approach, burnt orange and fuchsia pinks are the colours that are being seen a lot this season. Waistcoats are also making appearances and are a great addition to your wardrobe. They add an extra dimension to your style and can easily be paired with jeans or leather trousers and a t-shirt.
Take inspiration from these few ideas and suggestions and incorporate them into your 2020 style and don’t be afraid to experiment with something that you wouldn’t necessarily have worn before! Wishing all the Your Call readers a peaceful and happy new year!
