44th Allesley Festival ‘As Seen on TV’ 5th – 14th July 2019

The countdown to Allesley Festival 2019 has begun!  Last year’s Festival was hugely successful, raising over £5,000 for local charities. Our thanks go to everyone involved for all their hard work and support. Our ‘Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales’ theme in the 2018 Carnival was fantastic. The Carnival continues to bring all the community together with entrants ranging from 2 to 92 years of age! The winning float was entered by Yeoman and Owen/JLN and Friends, portraying the nursery rhyme, ‘Old McDonald had a Farm.’ Closely followed by the magnificent entry of ‘Hansel and Gretel’ by Burton Close and friends. Well done to all concerned and we eagerly await all the float entries for Carnival day 2019.

This year’s Festival promises to be just as fun filled, with an array of events to bring all of the community together. Our much-loved garden walks are returning again this year, which will take place at the ‘Browns Lane end’ of Allesley on Sunday 7th July, between 2pm and 5pm. Children are welcome and are free of charge. Tickets are £2.50 and shall be sold on the day along with tea and cakes being served at Hill Top Farm, Hawkes Mill Lane. The garden walks also coincide with the Allesley Festival Art Exhibition, being held on Saturday 6th July and Sunday 7th July in All Saints Allesley Church Hall, Rectory Lane, with paintings and crafts being sold by local people and members of Art Societies.

Our ever popular ‘Ladies Night’ shall return again this year. This is being held at Jaguar Social Club, Fenton Road, Allesley on Monday 8th July at 7pm. We have a fantastic range of new stalls, beauty treatments and our resident fashion show provided by ‘Glitzy Bits’. Tickets are available in advance and on the door for £3. Please see our website for further details.

This year, with the themeAs seen on TV’ our procession will start at 12.30pm from the Jaguar Social Club, Fenton Lane, Allesley. If you would like to enter a float (walking floats more than welcome), look at the website and arrive at 11.30am, for judging at noon. This year, we welcome Coventry Corps of Drums Marching Band and Bhangra Dhol Players to make this a fabulous spectacle.

For details of all our events over the 10 days, please visit the website www.allesleyfestival.co.uk and our Facebook page #allesleyfestival. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this year’s Festival – it is always wonderful to see new faces at the events!  Please come and join us at this great community event.
