The Cinema Organ Society (Midlands and Wales District) Launches its Programme of Live Concerts for 2020

We are proud to announce our 2020 programme (commencing February). Sunday 2nd February – David Lowe, Sunday 1st March – Tom Horton, Sunday 5th April – Aaron Hawthorne, Sunday 3rd May – Byron Jones, Sunday 7th June – Andrew Gilbert, “Pipes Plus”, Sunday 5th July – Andrew Nix, Sunday 2nd August – Alec Walters, Sunday 6th September – Nigel Ogden, Sunday 4th October – Len Rawle, Sunday 1st November – Dorian Collins, Sunday 6th December – Nicholas Martin.

Our Cinema Pipe Organ was built in 1935 by the John Compton Organ Company and was first installed in the Tower Cinema at West Bromwich. The organ entertained cinema-going audiences there until its removal in 1965. Purchased by the Society, it was then installed in the recreation suite of Marston Green Hospital, then at St Martins School in Solihull before its last move in 2002 to its present home at Fentham Hall, Marsh Lane, Hampton-in-Arden, B92 0AH, where it rises from the stage in true “Blackpool” fashion.

Our concerts are held on the first Sunday of each month except January. Doors open at 1.30pm, curtain up 2.30pm. Admission £10 on the door, including interval refreshments and parking. Visiting organists play to a wide variety of tastes and offer a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment. The organ is available for individuals to play, by arrangement. We look forward to welcoming you, booking for the concerts is not necessary. For more information visit www.cinema-organs.org.uk or call our District Secretary on 0121 421 4420.
