What’s Happening at Kenilworth Town Council?

The end of 2019 brought the welcome news that Warwickshire County Council (WCC) have approved the funding of the Kenilworth to Leamington cycleway. In addition, a Kenilworth Town Council working group, with the help of a number of residents, have created a cycling strategy for Kenilworth. In 2020 we will be working together to start implementing the strategy.

The Christmas Lights and Family Fun Day were a success, thanks largely to the sterling efforts of Marilyn Bates and her committee.

A road safety scheme for Warwick Road which was proposed by WCC and funded via Cllr Alan Cockburn’s delegated budget has been supported by the Town Council following a public consultation. It is not currently known when these works will commence.

As part of the Town Council Climate Emergency Declaration a group of councillors and residents have been meeting to devise a detailed plan that will help to encourage and enable public and community-led carbon reduction schemes within Kenilworth. This will be finalised early this year and we hope that residents will get fully involved in trying to reduce the town’s environmental impact.

Looking forward to 2020, we will be holding a celebration to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day in May and in the summer, Kenilworth will be hosting a Commonwealth Games countdown event to mark the ‘Two Years To Go’ milestone.

From the Kenilworth Town Council we would like to wish all Kenilworth residents a happy and peaceful New Year!
