Newly Opened Art Gallery at the Memorial Park

The Coventry Art Guild have changed one of the unused buildings at the West Pavilion in Coventry Memorial Park into an Art Gallery.

To enable this project to happen, a small group of us have cleaned, emptied and refurbished this building which was previously only used as a storage place for rubbish and unused garden tools. Tim Fox from the Parks Department was very keen to help us develop our vision of providing the people of Coventry with a cultural attraction in the park which can only enhance and improve this already family friendly jewel of Coventry, recently regaining the prestigious Green Flag Award. It is still in its early stages but hopefully will be a permanent addition to the Memorial Park.

The gallery contains original paintings in oil, water, acrylic and pencil drawings, and there are also a few prints on show and for sale. These are all works by the members of the art guild who have set up the new project.

So far, the response from the public has been excellent, with many commenting on how lovely it is to see the building being used after being closed for years. People have been overwhelmed by the outstanding talent in the works of art on show. The gallery is open every weekend and bank holiday from 10.30am until 3.00pm, next time you’re in the Memorial Park, come in and have a look, we will be delighted to see you!
